Sunday morning was an early start for me. My reverie ended at the unearthly hour of 6:00am in order to have a quick breakfast, wait for digestion and have an early start in a bid to only encounter minimal traffic on the way to Mount Faber.
I began my journey at 7am and reached the base of Mount Faber half an hour later. The route was fairly straightforward. It took me along different parts of Singapore- Geylang, Kallang, CBD and Chinatown. It was more or less straight apart from a small handful of turns.
The climb was not too arduous for a moderately fit cyclist, with a short climb spanning approximately 1.5km. It would take about 10 minutes or less to reach the highest point. Take a well deserved rest and enjoy the views while sipping a refreshing drink from the vending machine located near the top!
What goes up must come down! The decent albeit not long, is still fun. Just be careful to slow down at the bends and over the speed humps as the latter could unsettle the bike.
The decent will lead you to Telok Blangah Road (not the same way you came from). I headed straight towards Keppel Road, passing the old railway station, then left onto Anson Road and straight onto the Park Connector Network towards the East Coast Beach and home!
