September 2022! That can only mean one thing. Ride for Rations fundraising! This year, since Covid travel restrictions had finally eased, we resumed our cross-border cycling from Malacca, Malaysia to Singapore. It was held from the 2nd to the 4th of September 2022.

On the 2nd we had to assemble at a pre-determined pickup point to board our coaches to Malacca (Hatten Hotel). The next day (3rd), we would depart for our overnight stop at Batu Pahat- Katerina Hotel which was about 100km away. On the 4th, we would depart for Singapore via the Woodlands Checkpoint which was 150km away.

2nd September

It was an early start. I had to be at the assembly point- Hougang Stadium by 915am. But we had to arrive earlier so that we had enough time to bubble wrap our fragile bikes for the coach journey to Malacca. Once the bikes were wrapped and attendance taken, we boarded the buses. The other riders helped to stow the bikes onboard the buses. Some could be stowed in the coaches’ luggage area while most of them had to be stowed in the seating area.
